Terms of service
Last updated: 15 October 2026
These terms cover the author website service sold at web.socmedai.com ("SocmedAI Web", "we", "us"), which is part of SocmedAI. They apply when you ask for a free review, place an order or use your project page. When you tick "I agree to the terms and refund policy" at checkout, you accept these terms, our refund policy and our privacy policy.
1. The free review
You can send us your current website for a free, marked-up review. It costs nothing and you don't have to buy anything afterwards. We may decline a request, for example if the site isn't an author website.
2. Orders, prices and payment
- Prices are in US dollars and are shown before you pay. The total at checkout, with any add-ons and discount, is the price of your order. A crossed-out price shows what the package has sold for before.
- You pay through PayPal, with a PayPal account or a debit or credit card. We never see or store your card number.
- Work starts once your payment is confirmed. If we offer paying in parts, the rest is due before your site goes live.
- Discount codes: one per order. A code can have an end date, a use limit or apply only to some packages. We check it again just before you pay, and a code never takes an order below US$1.
- Your bank or card issuer may add its own fees, for example for currency conversion.
3. How your project works
- You fill in the brief and pay.
- You send your materials on your project page: covers, author photo, bio, buy links and domain details.
- We design your homepage first, usually within four days of having your materials.
- You review the design and ask for changes. Your package includes the rounds of design changes listed for it.
- You approve the design in writing, with the Approve button on your project page or by email. We don't build anything else until you approve.
- We build the other pages, test them on phones and computers, connect your domain and go live once your order is paid in full.
- For 30 days after launch, we fix anything we built that doesn't work as agreed.
Timelines are estimates (about 14 days from brief to launch for our main package). They depend on having your materials and feedback on time, and delays on either side move the dates.
4. What you provide
- Accurate information, and materials you have the right to use: covers, photos, text, logos, reviews and quotes. By sending them, you allow us to use them to build and run your website.
- Feedback and approvals within a reasonable time.
- Access to your domain and hosting when we need it, by inviting us through your provider's access-sharing feature. Please never send us passwords.
If we can't reach you for 30 days, we may pause your project. We'll email you before we close it.
5. Changes and extra work
Work outside your package, such as extra pages, a new design direction after you've approved one, or edits after the 30-day fix period, isn't included. We'll quote it before starting, and we never charge for extra work you haven't agreed to.
6. Domain and hosting
Your domain is registered in your name and stays under your control. If you don't have a domain or hosting, we help you get them in your name and you pay the provider directly, unless you buy our domain and hosting add-on, which covers the first year and comes with a reminder before it renews. Domain registrars and hosting companies are separate businesses with their own terms. We're not responsible for their outages, their price changes or renewals you miss.
7. Ownership
- Your words, images, covers and other materials stay yours.
- Once your order is paid in full, the finished website is yours to use, change and move. If you leave us, we hand over the site files and any logins we set up for you.
- We keep the right to reuse our general know-how, layouts and code that aren't specific to you.
- Some parts of your site may be third-party products, such as WordPress, themes, plugins, fonts or stock images. They come with their own licences, which pass to you as those licences allow.
- We only show your website in our portfolio or marketing with your permission, and we take it down if you change your mind.
8. After launch
- For 30 days after launch, we fix anything we built that doesn't work as agreed: broken links, layout problems in current browsers, forms that don't send. New features and new content aren't fixes.
- The optional care plan (hosting, updates, new book pages and backups) is a separate monthly service. You can cancel it at any time; it stops at the end of the month you've paid for.
9. Add-ons
- Book trailer: made by SocmedAI. You approve the script before production starts, and you can use the finished video on your website, social media and ads.
- Domain and hosting, first year: see section 6.
10. Cancellations and refunds
See our refund policy. In short: cancel before we send your first homepage design and you get a full refund.
11. What we don't promise
Your website is built to help you sell books and reach readers, but we can't promise sales, search rankings, traffic or sign-ups: they depend on many things outside our control. We work to keep the sites we host online, but we can't promise they will never be unavailable.
12. Content we won't work with
We don't build or host content that is illegal, infringes someone else's rights, or is hateful or deceptive. We may refuse or stop such work, and we refund any part of the price for work not yet done.
13. Liability
Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law doesn't allow us to limit, such as for fraud. Otherwise, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost sales or profits, and our total liability for an order is limited to the amount you paid for it.
14. Claims about your materials
If someone makes a claim against us because of materials you gave us, for example a photo you didn't have the right to use, you agree to cover our reasonable costs of dealing with it.
15. Events outside our control
We aren't responsible for delays caused by events outside reasonable control, such as outages at hosting or payment providers, natural disasters or serious illness. We'll tell you and agree new dates with you.
16. Your personal information
How we collect and use it is explained in our privacy policy.
17. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The version in force when you placed your order applies to that order; changes apply to later orders. The date at the top shows the latest version.
18. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the place where SocmedAI operates. If something goes wrong, please email us first: most problems can be solved quickly. Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under the consumer laws of your country.
